Hope Takes flight
At journeys end, we encounter a new beginning

The sawgrass marshes that are the birthplace of the St. Johns River, once drained for farmland, have been painstakingly restored. To look out over the marshes now is to look at a success story. As they did long ago, the marshes once again provide habitat for countless species, among them a pair of Whooping Cranes. And in the crane's return to the river's headwaters is a sign of hope that the river, too, is returning.
