A farmer sheds light on agriculture and the river

Hastings -- What's really tough about being a farmer along the St. Johns - other than lots of seven-day weeks of 18-hour days, hurricanes and droughts, and failing to turn a profit - is being the proverbial whipping post for problems plaguing the river. But potato farmer Danny Johns wants to set the record straight: farmers are stewards of the land. And his planting of a new type of potato that requires less fertilizer and pesticides supports his contentions.
