St. Johns River Water Management District
The St. Johns River Water Management District is responsible for managing ground and surface water supplies in all or part of 18 counties in northeast and east-central Florida. Primary objectives of the District are to provide sufficient water for users and the environment, protect and improve surface water resources and provide flood protection.
Interview with Kirby Green, Executive Director
Kirby Green is the executive director of the St. Johns River Water Management District, a position to which he was appointed on July 11, 2001. A former deputy secretary of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), he is a native of Jacksonville, Florida.
Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services
The primary mission of the Department of Agriculture is to: safeguard the public and support Florida's agricultural economy by ensuring food safety and wholesomeness through inspection and testing programs; assist Florida's farmers and agricultural industries with production and promotion of agricultural products; and protecting the state's agricultural and natural resources by reducing wildfires, promoting environmentally safe agriculture practices and managing public lands.

Department of Environmental Protection
The Florida Department of Environmental Protection is the lead agency in state government for environmental management and stewardship. The department administers regulatory programs and issues permits for air, water and waste management. It oversees the State's land and water conservation program, Florida Forever, and manages the nationally award-winning Florida Park Service. The department is the main architect of the $7.8 billion funding and management plan to restore America's Everglades - the largest water restoration project in the history of the world.
